Can you smell the bread in the oven?
Can you remember a time when you watched your mother make bread?
I remember watching the bread rise, and rise, and rise.
It took yeast to make that bread rise.
Well, that is it. This blog is 100% about being risen.
Why do our lives almost always sink into the pit?
Why do we fail to rise?
I know countless people that are on medication for depression.
This does not make them inferior by any means.
In fact, it means that they are doing something positive about their situation.
None the less, it seems to point out the misery that surrounds our modern life.
Most of us, including myself, have forgotten how to be happy.
The problem is that we are oriented in the wrong direction.
We have taken I-40 West to find happiness, when truly happiness is on I-40 East.
It is that simple.
We are oriented in the wrong direction.
I could spend all morning describing how the human condition has come to be this way.
I could go into Genesis, I could quote Scripture.
I could do many things.
The fact of the matter is that, "Something is wrong."
At our chore, we know that life has to be "more than this."
Well, it is.
Life is surging through our veins, and we just need to stop and feel it.
First off, we are all created to RISE.
Second of all, the rising takes place by adding something to us.
Just like bread, we have to place the yeast within the dough to make the dough rise.
The dough does not simply rise on its own.
That would be insanity.
Well, so where is the yeast?
The yeast is in God--to be honest.
We have to get God's life into our life.
The problem is that we work so hard in being like God, in thriving to be "spiritual," that we forget that God cannot be captured, grabbed, or even understood.
We have to allow God's life to enter into our life.
Third, we must remember that our happiness is at stake.
This blog is 100% about life.
Life is not what we think it is.
We think we can create life ourselves.
And we can.
But the trick is to find that there is another source of life.
Life existed before we were alive, and this life is the life of God.
There is nothing like living life within the life of God.
God has a life, and God is celebrating that life right now.
God does not even need you to be inside His life.
But He wants you to be inside His life.
Since He created all of us, He wants us to join into his life.
Fourth of all, the primary pathway to getting this life is-SURRENDER
It is often hard to live in this American Culture of ours.
We grasp at everything; the latest Williams and Sonoma gadget, to the latest educational ideal.
So this blog is for people who want to chat about living life.
Ultimately, I think that we want to RISE, so I would like to talk to people that are on the RISE.
This is why this blog is called RISE.
Ironically though, Jesus was most acquinted with people that were down, out, sleepy, hurt, begging, and completely lost.
So Jesus does not expect us to be on the rise, on our own.
Jesus wants to rise us up through his own power.
You will never see Jesus rising someone who is in control, who has it all, and who is wealthy.
No, Jesus always creates life from the dust, from nothing, from people who are willing to have faith.
Try it out.
It works, and it brings life.
